Susan Richter, recorders & Renaissance winds

Susan Richter, woodwind specialist

Susan Richter earned a music education degree from North Texas State University (now the University of North Texas) and, after a brief foray as a junior high band director, turned to the world of information technology to earn a living — but music remains her life’s interest. She has played clarinet, recorder and other woodwinds for most of her life, and has enjoyed singing in various church and early music groups over the years.

Susan has been a performing member of Wireless Consort, St. David’s Compline Choir, Texas Early Music Project and the Austin Baroque Orchestra/Coro Settecento. She was a Board member of the American Recorder Society 2008-2012, is a music leader at Central Presbyterian Church in Austin, and is Administrator of the Texas Toot early music workshops. By day, Susan works as a data modeler for the Texas Education Agency.
