Dr. Jennifer Auerbach, baroque bassoon
Bassoonist Jennifer Auerbach is the director and founder of the Bocal Majority Bassoon Camp and Operation O.B.O.E. She holds a bachelor’s degree in bassoon performance from Chicago Musical College and master’s and doctoral degrees in music theory from the University of North Texas. She has taught private bassoon lessons in the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex since 1998, and has given clinics at the Texas Music Educators’ Association Convention, the International Double Reed Society. She is currently co-authoring a method book for first-year double-reed students.
Dr. Auerbach was the recipient of a 2005-2006 Fulbright Award for a year of study in Vienna, where she worked with the unknown early manuscript of Heinrich Schenker’s last music theory treatise, Der freie Satz (Free Composition). She is the principal bassoonist of the Richardson Symphony Orchestra and contrabassoonist of the Lone Star Wind Orchestra. She has performed with orchestras in Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic. She feels privileged to share her love of music with her students. Her bassoon teachers include Joe Urbinato, Kathleen Reynolds, Kevin Hall, Robin Howell, Michael McCraw and Monte Perkins.
