Seventeenth-century Italian music is dazzling, mercurial, virtuosic, passionate. This exciting repertoire set the stage for the high baroque as it percolated northward from Italy into Austria and beyond. Join us as we dazzle you with a variety of works from the Italian seicento, including music for instruments, voices, and both.
This concert will feature several soloists drawn from the ABO ranks, including Stephanie Raby (violin), James Brown (viola da gamba), Elizabeth Hardy (dulcian), Billy Traylor (recorder & harpsichord), Eric Smith (violoncello and viola da gamba), and Steven Serpa (countertenor), and will include music by Monteverdi, Uccellini, Merula, Corelli, Biber, and more.
