Known Unknowns features hidden and forgotten gems by some of the Baroque era’s heavyweights. Forget the Canon in D – we’ll be performing a partita for strings by Pachelbel of Canon in D fame, along with J.S. Bach’s Concerto in C minor for Violin & Oboe featuring Concertmaster Stephanie Raby and Artistic Director Billy Traylor. It’s not all German, though – we’ll include operatic excerpts from Rameau's Naïs and Vivaldi's recently rediscovered Motezuma. And finally, to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Georg Philipp Telemann’s death, we’ll perform the Austin premiere of his rarely performed oratorio Der Tag des Gerichts (The Day of Judgment), written in 1762 when the composer was 82 years of age and after Haydn had already composed his first symphonies for the Esterházy family!
